When I was about 25 years old, I made the rather bizarre career move from full time musician, to Blackjack Dealer at The 4 Queens in downtown Las Vegas. Six months later, I was offered a job across the street at the legendary Binion’s Horseshoe Casino.
The Casino Manager, my boss, was Ted Binion. Yes, the same Ted Binion who was later murdered in a plot to steal the 6 Million Dollars worth of silver that he’d buried in the desert.
Good times.
The Horseshoe Casino was the original home to The World Series of Poker, and naturally, I became interested in learning this new game called Texas Hold Em. I quit my job at The Horseshoe about a year later, and went on the road playing Hold Em.
At the time, the Hold Em circuit was a bit different than it is today. Las Vegas, home to the toughest players in the world, [...]

More info:
European Poker Tour Berlin has just been robbed by six gunmen with machine guns. It is alleged that they have made off with less than a million Euros from the poker tournament. One of the guards was injured trying to capture one of the robbers. Panic and chaos ensued throughout the tournament as seen in the video below.

“An armed robbery by six men took place today at EPT Berlin. Nobody was seriously injured. We hope to re-start all events at 4pm local time. A police investigation is under way. If you have video footage or photographs that could help the police, please contact the EPT organizers as soon as possible.”

Those are some ballsy robbers…i’m interested in seeing what other kinds of footage come out from this over time.

That’s right, friends. I actually had a winning day. Why? I’m not sure, though I have a theory – all that rush poker was having a positive affect on my normal play. Even though I was losing like crazy, my ability to read a table quickly has been enhanced. This is just a theory, though, and one winning night isn’t enough to prove that.
But still – my new bankroll is $15.05, up from $14.39!
My betting is still all kinds of off, I think. I think I should’ve come out with a bigger bet with the two Qs on the first hand. But then again, I was at a table of fish. Likely a strong bet would’ve just scared them off.
Here was the first winning hand:
Full Tilt No-Limit Hold’em, $0.02 BB (6 handed) – Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
SB ($1.71)
BB ($1.19)
We’ve got a few spots left for Viva Las Vegas on Saturday night, presented by TeleSource. It’s going to be a huge fundraiser for Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids upstairs at the Galway Hooker Irish Pub off I-77/Exit 25, beginning at 7P.
We would love it if you would consider attending and helping us to raise money for Grin Kids!
Tickets are just $50 per person and includes all of your food, beverages (including beer, wine, and non-premium liquor drinks), and $1000 in “funny money” to start gambling. You can always buy your way in to keep on gambling.
Games include craps, roulette, Blackjack, and TEXAS HOLD ‘EM!!!
Your winnings will be awarded in raffle tickets (pesky laws prohibit actual cash…sorry!)
The more you win, the more tickets you’ll have in the drawing to win one of the great raffle prizes including a 35” flat-screen TV/DVD combo, a Sony Blu-Ray player, an iPod [...]

I usually use these posts to brag. However, this time I have to give kudos to a fellow player. For the first time in about a month, I did not reach the final table at Scoreboard.
The game started with roughly six players at each of four tables. The blinds were 25 / 50. I was playing some goofy hands and getting paid off, for example, I raised with 7 / 10 and got a straight on the river. So, I was having fun, building up a quite-nice size stack when I pulled pocket 10’s. The blinds are now up to 50 /100 and I raise to 300. Lady across the table re-raises to 600. I call. I don’t recall seeing her before and am not sure of her style of play. She looks peeved. I had beat her out of a pot before with a big raise on the river [...]
